One of my many favorite things is weapons. Weapons are, to me at least, one of the most interesting things in the world. Weapons have helped define what we are as humans and how we look to improve on what we have. The evolution of weapons is fascinating to me because of how far we've come in technological advances just for protection or hunting.
Weapons are a thing that is part of our basic human history. They have led empires to victory and destruction. Weapons have ended and started wars. If weapons were not improved upon then we as a society would be much different. If you were to look back in time you would see weapons everywhere. With weapons we have made huge imprints on history like with the Atom Bombs dropped on Japan.
My personal favorite kinds of weapons are firearms. The Firearm is the most widely used weapon in today's age. The way that firearms have developed over the years is interesting because of all of the theories and prototypes that were created to better the firearm. Huge developments that made the firearm better and better are things that helped change history. Such things like the development of the miniball helped turn the tide in the civil war and eventually lead to that shape becoming the standard for most firearms to use as ammo. Small things like adding a point and hollowing out the back of a piece of lead can have such a big impact on the U.S.. Things like that fascinate me and make me think about how such a thing can change so much. That is why I love fire arms, because they have such an impact on history and the world around us.

Even though I do not play it on a team, one of my favorite sports ever is football. Football is something that has interested me my entire life, it gave me something to watch for 6 months and something to talk about year-round. The things I enjoy about the sport is, its not a sport that one man can significantly change the outcome of the game, I understand it when I watch the game, and it's a very competitive sport.
The sport of football is not something to be taken lightly by people who care for the sport. Everybody who shares an honest love for the sport tries their absolute hardest every time they go out onto the field. With that, and there being 11 people on each side of the ball, no one player can completely control the outcome of the game; yes, there are some players at the position that are better than others, but that doesn't matter if the 10 other men on the field don't step up and do their jobs as well. When you have 22 people in total on the field, 11 to a team, and there are 53 total people on a team, not everybody is going to get a chance to play. You have to earn that chance to get out there and play. Everybody's dream is to get into the spot light one way or the other and the way you do that for football is you compete for your chance to play in front of everybody in America, making football an incredibly competitive sport. Aside from what I see on the screen or on the field in front of me, I fully understand the game. I understand all the penalties, and the play calls, the reasons everything is happening the way it's happening, and that's what makes it all fun to me, it's better to understand, watch, and coach a football game than play it to me.
The sport, football, is something that interests me because no one man can completely change the outcome of the game, its competitive, and I understand the sport. I have plenty of other reasons why I love football, however I believe the three I stated are the main reasons why.

There are a lot of things that I am interested but the number thing would probably be cleaning my room. That does sound very strange but my reasons make sense; well at least to me. I'm very interested in cleaning my room because it is a stress reliever, I can find things have lost, and my parents never get mad at me.
I stress myself out a lot and sometimes over really stupid things. But regardless cleaning my room really helps me to calm down and not over think because whatever is bothering me will leave my mind. And the only thing I will think about is getting my room to look spotless. Not only is cleaning my room a stress reliever but it helps me when I'm really mad about something. My friends think this is one of the funniest things about me but when I am mad and they are around me, I go to my room and don't even realize that I start to pick up clothes and put things away. after awhile they start to laugh and I realize I've done it again. This is very interesting because it is so weird how doing one task can solve my problems and put me in my happy place.
Now I am so sure that this happens to all kids but when I clean my room or reorganize it I find new things that I never thought I had or things I have lost. For me and my twin we always find socks and t-shirts under our beds. What really gets me is that I organize my room probably once every week. I know where everything is and I know that everything has it's place. But every time I lose something I don't even know I've lost it until I find it.
A lot of my friends hate to clean their rooms. Their parents get so mad at them and force them to clean it. Because my room is already clean just about all the time my parents never get frustrated with me. (Kellie on the other hand doesn't like to clean her side of the room but that's on her.) Over all I think my interest is kind of cool because its amazing how doing one simple little task can change so much.

The nursing profession is constantly evolving. Registered nurses issue hands-on care by managing lines, observing and monitoring patients and their condition, communicating with doctors and also maintaining records. Nursing is a career I would like to pursue after school because nurses are constantly helping people, and they have many roles so they stay busy.
Registered nurses are constantly helping people. For example, many patients become stressed because of their sickness or disease. Nurses help to better a patients experience at a hospital regardless of their situation.
Also, registered nurses are always busy because of the many roles they have. Having a lot of work and being busy is something I enjoy, especially if me being busy is helping someone else.
In my conclusion, after school a career I would like to pursue is nursing because nurses are constantly helping people and they have many roles in and out of the hospital.

One of my favorite hobbies is baking. It seems strange because most teenagers hate cooking but I love it. Cooking is a combination of math and science which creates a tasty delight. Baking gives me a sense of tranquility and happiness. I started baking at the age of thirteen. I lost my grandmother in death so I guess it helped me think of the different memories with her. When I was little, I remember my grandmother teaching me how to make homemade biscuits. They were delicious! She made the best sweet potato and pumpkin pies in the world. After she died, I wanted to keep her tradition of baking with me. In her memory, I've made countless of desserts. I get excited whenever I find a new recipe in a cookbook or on Pinterest. I always think of the times when we were in the kitchen together. I know she would be proud of my accomplishments. I hope one day I will be able to work at a bakery as a summer job.

Throughout history, music has become an integral piece of culture for all peoples around the world. Dating back to centuries ago, composers developed harmonious tones and produced fantastical melodies for all people to enjoy. Music unites people, and creates a clear community based on the people's love for the art. During this era, music was simple. Musicians and composers gained insurmountable amounts of fame, but it was only an added benefit of fondly and obsessively perfecting their craft. A musician's or composer's real satisfaction came from seeing the fruits of their hard work and being able to share it with everyone around them. This statement remains true today. However, the industry of music has become more complicated. Dedicated and diligent artists still exist, but executive corporations and music labels become large competitors that make it difficult for small artists to survive in the industry. These corporations exist universally, especially in South Korea, the home of Korean pop music. Although the harsh music industry of the east prevents aspiring artists to strive, a particular group called MAMAMOO still manages to achieve success with their passion, commitment, and love for their craft.
In South Korea, the music industry has become increasingly more industrialized due to the rise in popularity of Korean pop music, or K-pop. As a result, music labels and other companies took advantage of this and began creating many groups of talented performers in hopes that they would gain popularity fast. For the most part, it worked, and those talented singers and dancers were soon showered with the love of their fans. However, there was one underlying factor that would endanger the dreams of aspiring Korean artists. Performers saw the new K-pop craze as an opportunity to get noticed, so music labels had a large pool to choose from when producing groups. Although this seems like an ideal situation, it actually creates an immense amount of competition between the rival groups in order to maintain popularity. Those groups that fail to meet the expectations of the crowds quickly dissipate, and all of their hard work and hours of practicing go to waste. As trends are ever changing, top groups are not safe from the risk of disappearing either and need to continuously need to find new ways to maintain popularity.
Still, after knowing the brutal nature of the music industry, I found interest in the group known as MAMAMOO. Despite the rest of the competition, this group of four talented women stand out above all the others. One of their best qualities is their amazing raw singing capability. With the advent of new technology and clever thinking, it is easy to lip sync with a backtrack during a live performance. However, the members of MAMAMOO refuse to rely on their recorded voices and opt to perform honestly, as seen by their countless live performances across east Asia. I was also impressed by the groups genuine passion and love for each other. It is an important part of an team to have a stable relationship with each other, but these members are more than just coworkers. Two of the members have been childhood friends since middle school, and they both decided to pursue their passion music together. Fortunately enough, they were both selected to perform in the same group. Their friendship strengthened as they struggled to become better performers together along with the remaining members. Eventually, their relationship spread to the whole group, creating a family between all four members. Maintaining a strong relationship and pursuing a shared dream is something I highly respect from this group.
I found MAMAMOO and simply became enamored with their sincerity, talent, and drive to become better performers. Their presence never ceases to amaze me, along with their other fans around the world. I will continue to support them and wish them lasting success.

Something that i am very interested in is dance. I dance in the magnet and i always work my hardest and try to be the best i can be in dance. Dance teaches discipline to dancers but also lets them express theirselves through movement. Dance has also been around for as long as there had been humans so it is very cultured and with many cultures come many different styles come many different people in the world of dance.
I've somehow been in dance classes here and there my whole life and each time it has been different. I've never been serious about dance until high school. I see all the different people in my classes and the people in higher levels, even the professionals. Through seeing the talent, dedication, and hard work these individuals have has inspired me to want to be like them. I give it one hundred and ten percent each class. I have made great friends and dance partners through dance to motivate me.
One thing to love about dance is that even though it teaches discipline, you also learn to open up and express yourself. Anyone can enjoy dance because of all the culture that goes into dance and all different genres of dance. Since dance has been around so long, so many people have contributed to it with new ideas and new things that break the rules of dance and create something new.The genres vary from modern and ballet to hip hop and tap, there's plenty to pick from just like music so everyone can enjoy it.

I am a huge Rhianna fan. I’ve been a fan of her music for as long as I can remember. I guess that stems from the fact that my mom has also always been a fan. Consequently, growing up I was always listening to her music. Whether this was of my choosing or my moms, I never minded it very much.
One of the major reasons I, and many other across the world, adore Rhianna is because of her personality. She is so unapologeticly herself and it’s such an admirable quality. I myself -as I’m sure is true with many others as well- wish that this was a quality I possessed.
Beyond just her personality and her image she is also very talented. Her singing voice accompanied by the image she has completes her entire package. Her singing and songwriting skills have always been something was somewhat fascinated by. For someone like myself who has trouble with the smallest tasks, like finding words that rhyme to put into a poem, the amazement with the lyrics she is able to create is understandable.

Everybody has their way of getting rid of stress. People deal with many tragedies that go along as we live out our lives such as deaths, break ups, and lost friends in the winds of time. As time goes on and these things fester and puss up to the surface we find ways to get rid of them. Some drink, some smoke, but I find my "garden of eden" playing baseball.
I started late playing baseball as many kids do. It was just something to do with my spare time. But it turned into something magical almost, euphoric perhaps. As time progressed and I got more serious about the sport it turned into a lifestyle and became a top priority. Whenever I was sad or down about something, baseball was always there.
It was always a "way out" of everything, I could withdraw all the hardships from my mind and play the game I love. Nothing else seemed to linger in my mind when I was in between the lines. I am forever in debt to the game that has helped me through everything life has thrown at me and kept my mind at ease.

The number one thing I am most interested in is art; I love it with a passion! The top three mediums of art I enjoy most are: drawing, painting, and photography. I do also enjoy other mediums/forms of art such as sculpture or anything you would find in an art museum. It's amazing how almost anything can be art, it's all about perspective. From a young age is when I became interested in art. To me art is so many things, and for me personally, art is a stress reliever. I admire many different artists as inspiration for my work as an artist.
At a very young age I started doing simple, abstract doodles of stick-like people as well as other things like flowers. I think I started to grow an interest for art when I saw my dad’s doodles. I began to see all of the beautiful colors and all of the different art supplies and I became fascinated with it. I even remember drawing out pictures for my parents and grandparents. It's amazing to see how throughout the years, I've been able to become a better artist through art classes at school as well as by exploring art myself. The art classes at school have taught me a lot, especially the Photography 1 class I took last year. I have been able to learn different techniques and tips that help me to become a better artist. I have learned how famous painters and photographers created and produced their work and it’s so interesting to learn their techniques. For my drawings and paintings, I enjoy doing: landscape, objects, and still life. For photography I like to take pictures of people, landscapes, animals, and more. It’s so fun to use your imagination and put your thoughts onto a canvas or through the viewfinder of a camera.
Personally, art is a stress reliever for me. I could be so frustrated and stressed out with something, but as soon as I pick up a paintbrush and begin painting, all my worries go away. To me it’s so cool that so many abstract, random things are viewed as art. It really is about perspective and the way people view different works of art. My favorite artists are: Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Andy Warhol, Ansel Adams, Alfred Eisenstaedt, and Dorothea Lange. All of these artists have created so many beautiful works of art and all of these artists inspire my artwork. I love their style of art and how they all were able to contribute something to a specific era, as well as documenting some historical people in U.S. history. I love how their work still makes an impact and influence on modern art. I enjoy seeing things like street art and visiting art museums. I like how some street art like mural paintings on the sides of buildings tell a story or share a good message. The world is full of art, and art is beautiful!

One thing that I am very interested in is playing drums. It all started when I saw a picture of my dad from the 80's where he was with his band and he had long hair. Shortly after that I grew my hair out and started taking drum lessons. Since then I have joined a band of my own but I have obviously cut my hair.
Back in 2007 when I first started taking lessons I was having fun at first, but after a while my 7 year old self got tired of doing endless basic rudiments and exercises. For a long time I didn't really improve much, because I put in little to no effort per week practicing, and it was showing. My instructor noticed so we finally started working on real songs. It helped a little, but it still wasn't doing it for me. She recommended a guy that helps but bands together, and after a while I finally went, and it was one of the best decisions of my life.
Once I joined the band, not only was I having way more fun playing, but my skills skyrocketed due to the difficulty of songs we were playing. It was a make or break thing for me. I knew I had to be able to memorize and play the songs before the gigs, because I couldn't just go up on stage and say, "Sorry guys it was too hard we can't play the song." Eventually I caught up with everybody in terms of ability, but right about the time I did, everybody started leaving the band for college and such. Since I was the youngest one, now I'm in a band that basically is the remnants of the old one, with some new people.
So now, I still do gigs around the area with the band at little places such as The Cactus or even bigger venues like The Norva or the VA Beach Oceanfront, do some very rare singing on occasion, and I have a whole lot of fun showing off on stage while I'm doing what I love.

Since being a small child, I've always had a deep respect for anyone who was a good artist. Mastering art has always seemed like that untouchable goal, because no matter how developed someone is at art, there is always someone out there who is better.
The first experience I had with art was when I started going to preschool. At that point, I wasn't aware that drawing existed, so when I saw the other kids scribbling, my thoughts were "Whoa, you can do that with markers?", and "A drawing can be anything.". I was so impressed, that since then there has not been a single year of school that I did take not take an art class. It didn't take long for me to realize that some of my peers seemed impossibly better at art. This feeling of not having control over art only made me want to get more control over what I did. It wasn't just having good ideas, it was figuring out how make them happen. Following the seventh grade, I attended my first year of Summer Institute for the Arts. Being in a vigorous course filled with very talented and experienced students, and teachers with high expectations really inspired and motivated me to reach a higher level. I also made several friends that I have to this day.
Coming into Woodside my Freshman year, I was lucky to get in the art magnet. I say this because all the people I've met and the friends I've made in art have really made me feel like I belong at school. In recent years I've considered getting a career in art. They say "If you do something you love, you''ll never work a day". Of course I plan on finding a stable job, but it's very important to be content with whatever career I choose. VCU has always been an attractive school because not only does it have an excellent art program, but also a good art school, another one of my interests. I plan on combining these two fields to get a carrer in medical illustration.

Science is by far my most favorite thing, because I believe everything that happens and has happened can be give an answer through a science. I love science simply, because it can give us an answer, unlike how most things in life leave us wonder "Why?" it gives me a sense of understanding. I believe that out of everything we believed as humans (exp. Myths, Gods, Kings, ETC) science has been there for us and will always lead us to the future will a sense of absolute.
Ever since I was young everyone around me had believed in a religion from my teachers in grade school to my friends. I never understood it. It Didn't make sense to me because there were so many things missing from the stories that have been told to me. Once I was introduced to book about volcanoes and the science behind them I had take a comfortable step in to the path of science. Facts, Proof, Reasoning, the power of human curiosity made me strive to be like or greater then the genius minds of our past to not only improve our lively hood, but help advance, to push our limits and abilities as humans.
To me this gives me a reason to be, a state of mind where I can always look back to get an answer. A starting point for my legacy a new legend of how Me and colleagues have pushed the boundaries never thought to happen for another 100 years. Science is a complex story with no true end, but a story for individuals who wish for better.

I've always enjoyed watching documentaries, whether it be about the ancient Egyptians, or Cell divison, or anything really- but one day I sat down,, watched a documentary about Medical History and I was instantly engrossed with everything that was being said in the show. And by medicinal history I don't JUST mean the remedies used thousands of years ago to cure ailments, I'm talking about the way surgeons were once called Barbers, the first instrument crafted for an extraordinary surgery, the things physicians used as antibiotics, everything really.
I'd actuallly be surprised if someone wasn't fascinated by old medical practices; John Bradmore, a blacksmith and surgeon was given the task of removing an arrow head stuck inside King Henry V's and INVENTED an instrument to remove the arrow even, it goes to show how people during the (pre) Renaissance were making progress In medicine. Its the ingenuity in medicine which keeps me wanting to always learn more. Sometimes we forget that centuries ago the Egyptians were doing acupuncture or embalmment, or that the Aztecs were some of the earliest brain surgeons. I always want to know the 'root' of things, I like to know where medical procedures originated from, who thought of it, how were the procedures carried out, and how have some of them become standard medical procedures still used today?
Medicinal history also interests me because it displays some of the brightest and most ignorant moments of humanity. In the Islamic World many useful contributions to anatomy, pharmacy surgery, and physiology were made- but then during middle aged Europe humans made the fatal mistake of undermining sanitation and many deaths were a result of that. My point is that medicine is interesting due to the developmental factor; when a disease cannot be cured, doctors attempt to find a cure and when a surgeon does not know what is medicaly wrong with a patient they research and they look again and again to find what's wrong because they may open doors to something completely new.
Overall, medicinal history is an interest of mine because its great seeing how some contributions from centuries are still used in hospitals today, I want to know where and when medicines were originated, and how medicine advanced differently throughout different parts of the world at different time periods. I am a firm believer that history is not always written with the purpose of not being repeated again, but for the purpose of laying down a foundation of data that can be built on- as proven by medical history.

Most people ask me, “Why do you like math so much? Math is hard!” In my opinion, math is awesome. I was in about third grade when I realized my favorite subject was math. When I would do other subjects I wouldn’t have as much confidence as would when I did a math equation. I remembered my favorite math teacher, Mrs. Francis telling me I had a gift for solving math problems.
When I got to Middle school I started to enjoy math even more, I started to learn about graphing and more. In 6th grade I was in pre-algebra, higher than all my friends. When I was in that class my shyness would disappear and I’d volunteer to do things on the board whereas in my other classes I’d sit in the back and pray to God they wouldn’t call on me. Although when I got to 8th grade, I was in Geometry and I slowly started to lose interest in math because it was so hard, but after I finished that course and went to Algebra 2 in 9th grade I gained my interest back in math.
When I completed Algebra 2 in 9th grade everyone kept telling me I could stop and I didn’t need to keep going because math was “pointless”, but I ignored them and decided to keep going. I love math so much I’ve actually thought about majoring in math because I’m just so great at it. When I look at an equation and have it look completely foreign and scary. It’s the best feeling in the world knowing I can solve it.

Something that's always interested me is technology. I've been around it my whole life, and it just fascinates me how much it has changed over the years of my life. Just 10 years ago, I still had a CRT TV in my bedroom and in my living room. Now, we have HD TVs, and that's not even anywhere near what we have reached now, with new 4K UHD TVs coming out. Before, computers were huge and could only do simple tasks, like look at email, or maybe search something up. Nowadays, you can do just about anything you'd want to on a computer. It's crazy how much change has been made over what seems to be a short period of time.
It's always interested me what's changed in the world, especially with technology, because it impacts our lives so much. What we see, what we hear, how we communicate and how we entertain ourselves is almost completely driven through technology. Calling, social media, Netflix, Youtube, etc. has impacted our lives in a drastic way. It's always intrigued me, how these technological advances are made and just what makes these devices work the way they do.
It's not just in the public, but in the military as well. In the 1940s, the atomic bomb was made, and everyone thought military technology wouldn't advance much more, due to the fear of creating a weapon so strong that it would wipe all of us out. Nowadays, we have drones, hackers, give it some time and we may even have robots. We already have self-driving cars being made, it's only a matter of time until we see AI everywhere.
In the future, I want to go to college to learn more about technology. It's interested me my entire life, and I want to see just how deep that rabbit hole goes.

In the recent few years of my life, I have taken up a strong liking towards history. I never considered myself a social studies person in the past because I didn't find it to be very interesting, however I had always liked history deep inside and once I started taking history classes, I realized just how fascinated I was by the subject. What I really like about history is how fashion, pop culture, and of course the innovations change so much over time. I find myself constantly researching stuff like fashion trends in the 1930s, most popular band in 1982, or even what people did for fun in the 1700s. And ever since this obsession started, I realized that I wanted to be a time-traveler!
I love watching older movies and listening to older music and imagining what everyday life was like in certain eras. In my opinion, it is just so cool that life can be so different depending on a only a few factors. For example, even my mom's life as a child/teenager was drastically different from our lives now. My mom would walk or ride her bike anywhere she wanted to go and go buy penny candy and go to cheap concerts and drive in movies and a whole bunch of other cool stuff. And my grandma grew up in San Francisco and went to sock hops and wore bobby socks and long skirts. I'm just so intrigued by it all! It is astonishing how fast trends change as the years fly by. 30 years ago, girls wore thick eyeliner, bright eyeshadows, and had their hair constantly teased, but now the styles are completely different. I also always forget that less than a hundred years ago, women couldn't vote along with many other things; it was even socially unacceptable for ladies to wear pants or jeans back then! This is why I want to be able to travel in time. I would love to be able to go back, or even forward, and live through so many different time periods and watch how people go about their lives. I could witness tons of innovations, like electricity being invented, or the transition from telegraphs to telephones. The options would be amazing and endless.
I know that this dream of mine is quite far-fetched, and will most likely not come true, but this is what I think of when people ask me what I want to be when I grow up. To be able to witness so much history for myself or observe the changing popular culture over time would be so incredible. Hopefully someone will invent a time machine in the near future because that would help me out immensely. Don't fret people, the more realistic career pathway I would love to take would be dentistry, but if time traveling ever becomes an option, let's just say my life will be made.

Throughout my life I was always intrigued by music. However my fascination grew about 4 years ago when I was going through a tough time. Weather I listen to music for fun, to release stress, or for inspiration, the fact is music has positively changed my life in unimaginable ways.
As a kid music was an essential part of my life, it was fun and made me dance. I didn't really understand a deeper meaning to the song. Until now, listening to music in the car or while I do school work eases my mind and makes whatever I'm doing a lot more fun.
Out of all my friends I stress myself out. I do have a lot of things that caused me to be stressed but I'm very bad at letting go and relaxing. When I feel angry or stressed, I listen to music. It calms me down and then I process and think about what to do. Even if I have no idea what to do, just to hear lyrics that pertain to someone who feels just like me, is soothing within itself. Without music I would've made many rash decisions in my life.
Sometimes my life can get a habitual, but new songs are made each day. Listen to these songs not only updates me on the mindset of some people, but gets me ideas to think about. At the end of the day I wouldn't be who I am without music, it's changed my life and will continue to do so, whether I'm paying attention to the lyrics or not.
One of my interests is psychology. It can explain why people and animals behave certain ways. Using psychology a person can explain why a mother becomes depressed for a brief period of time after birth, or why someone decided to rob a convonvenient store.
Psychology also studies the mind and how it is affected by certain traumatic experiences, such as a loss. When someone experiences loss, such as a death in the family, we can use psychology to explain thier behavior process by examining the five stages of grief, which are denial, anger, bargening, depression, and acceptance.
Psychology can be used in many different ways and is even used as a profession to help people with their problems. It can teach us everything about why we do what we do and even why you tend to feel more depressed on a rainy day. But my main reason for liking it is it taught me that every decision a person makes, and every thing a person likes or doesn't like, has a reason behind it even if that person doesn't know, so nobody can every tell me the statement " just because" anymore.

No matter if people choose to address it or not, fashion and style are a part of everyone's lives. When you wake up and choose particular pieces of clothing to put on, that's representing your style and individuality. I took an interest in fashion when I was transitioning from middle school to high school - I felt like a new look was absolutely critical for this new stage in my life. As a child and preteen, I usually just wore what I thought everyone else was wearing so I could fit in, but as I was introduced to different styles through the internet, social media, and friends, I was immediately intrigued. Fashion plays an important role in my life because it allows people to express themselves and has no boundries on what is acceptable.
One of my greatest inpirations I had while I discovered my own personal style was one of best friends, Amber. She was one of the first people I noticed to branch out of typical 2011 adolescent style and wear some really poppin' outfits. Though some of her outfits were different than the average middle schoolers', I always admired her daring style and willingness to step outside of the box. That's the great thing about fashion - its completely up to you. As long as you like what you're wearing and are confident in you're own skin, then its gold. Also, since expressing yourself can sometimes be pretty difficult when you're just trying to survive school, things like clothing and individual style really helps to show the real you and is a creative outlet to many people. For me, wearing an interesting outfit that I love really boosts my confidence and attitude, and for that, I think fashion is a great thing.
Another fascinating benefit of the fashion world is that it is constantly changing and there are no boundaries. Because of this, people can do what they please with clothes! Even though I don't wear the most creative outfits myself most of the time, I like admiring other peoples outfits and learning new things about the current trends. For example, a current trend is that the 90's are coming back, which, if you know me, you know that i'm obsessed with the 90's - fashion, movies, tv, celebrities, photography, anything pop-culturesque and i'm hooked! However, since I'm not quite in the monetary state i'd prefer to be in, it's difficult to buy all of the clothes and shoes and such that I desire, but it's all good. I look forward to when I reach (young)adulthood so I can really showcase my admiration for fashion and finally have the resources to do so! I'm grateful for all of the things in my life that have influenced me to be unique, or to rather not care about making a statement once in a while and being able to appreciate everyone's individuality.
Even though I don't see myself as having a career in the fashion industry, i'm excited to experience fashion as an adult and watch as the world changes right before my eyes! Thanks to the internet and magazines and other resources, I am able to experience the cool uniqueness of the world at such a young age...it's pretty fascinating. What a time to be alive!
Although I don't play an instrument, read music, or sing, I am very interested in music. I love to listen to music.i listen to various types of music; alternative, pop, and R&B are my favorite genres. I probably listen to music a minimum of 4 hours a day.
Music is such a broad and divers subject/topic. Everyone finds the genre that appeals to them the most, by doing that you are earning more about yourself- which is an important life skill.the diversity of music can bring people together. I find new friends through music and learn new things about other life styles and cultures.
I don't think of myself as a good writer. I'm an extremely slow think, I don't have a large sophisticated vocabulary, and it's hard for me to plains thing. Music helps me with that.it can explain my feelings better than I can. I often listen to the lyrics closely and think he poetic music really is.
I listen to music for multiple hours a day because it's a way for me to escape the world. I have really bad anxiety and music helps me.it calms me down. Listening to music stops my thoughts and heart from racing. I become more focused and determined and less stressed and insecure. Without listening to music constantly, I'd probably go insane.

For me, one of my favorite things to be left alone, I believe that alone time is essential for any human being no matter how social they can be. There is so much information and stress being placed on the mind and body daily. It is very important for someone to be able to sit and do something you enjoy with no around to bother or agitate that state of mind. Having none but yourself around can help encourage one to be more confident as themselves.
When there is no one around me, I can relax and decompress. Personally, I am not yet at the stage in my life where I am entirely comfortable with putting my whole self out for all to see. I cherish the times i can lay down and watch a show or movie I've never watched before, read a book I've never read before, or listen to music I like without fear of judgement. Just that can be relaxing and having time to just be happy can do wonders for anybody whether they're going through hard times or not.

One of the things that I feel like defines me is swimming. When I was 9 years old, my mother somewhat forced me to join a summer swim team. After I had completed their program to teach kids how to swim, my mother signed me up for the team. I actually didn't know she had signed me up when she told me that I was just going to one practice to "try it out." She saw how much I enjoyed being on the team, and made me stick with it. I remember her telling me when I first started that we weren’t going to be some of those “crazy people” who join a club team and swim year round.
I swam on a YMCA team for a year before joining Seva, a club team. It was a little hard for me at first because most club swimmers starting swimming when they were 6 or 7, and I had some catching up to do. After joining a year round team, around the age of 12 I stopped dreading going to practice. I decided that I didn’t just have to go to practice all the time; I wanted to. To this day, I hate missing practice. I feel like swimming is a sport where if you miss just one day, you start losing your feel for the water and have to work harder to gain it back. Also, part of the reason I chose swimming was because of my lack of coordination with spherical objects, which most other sports involve. All that matters is your technique, stroke after stroke, and training hard so you can go fast and don’t break down when you’re tired.
Currently, we swim year round, through Christmas break and the summer. The only time off we get is spring break, and after the end of the season during the first two weeks of August before we start dryland pre-season conditioning. A normal weekly schedule of practice is 5 days a week after school in the water, plus Saturday mornings, and on 3 of those days we do weight training at Tidewater Performance. I am usually not able to even start my homework until 8 or 9 o clock at night. When we start competition, meets are weekends, lasting 2-3 days, about every 3 weeks. In addition to swimming for Seva, I also swim for Woodside by competing at their meets after Seva practice during the winter sports season.
Swimming has become a big part of my life. I have made many friends because of it. I also have my job as a lifeguard because of it. I am happy to have met and known Mr. Reed, the Woodside swim coach, for the past two years. Swimming has taught me how to be disciplined and given me a tight schedule during the school year. It has given me what school has not, in the way of challenges and life lessons. I have had to deal with injuries and setbacks that left me quite upset and frustrated. I hope to continue to swim and improve this year, and to hopefully be able to compete in college. Ironically, my first water practice after being out of the water for a month is tomorrow after school. I’m holding onto hope that I don’t drown.

The study of the human mind and its functions has always been an interest of mine. Knowing why a person acts a certain way upon specific events makes me feel as if I knew a stranger before I even meet them. Ever since I could remember, I’ve always been the kind of person who continuously wanted to know what was happening around me, and why those things are happening. The curiosity that I had for people and their personal environment has helped me become a more observant person. This interest that I have for wanting to know the “whats” and “whys” became a foothold for my own personality.
Psychology has come so far with the studies created to pass different theories that were in regards to human behavior. Being a psychologist has never crossed my mind as a future profession, but I do want to pursue the career of pediatrics. Learning about the way a human mind works, will assist me in trying to connect with every adult I come across, as well as every child. Everyone’s minds work differently, but knowing the basics of why they think the way they do, and predicting what they might do next, is an encouragement that can be used to be able to help others. Knowing why those people with problems such as PTSD, and/or chronic depression, react the way they do when they see something that might trigger an episode, is a great knowledge to have when you are faced with having to be a person’s main support.
For some people, psychology may be a very boring subject to talk about; however, it’s a quite interesting topic of conversation when you actually know what you’re talking about. I want to be able to help those around me with illnesses that cannot be seen with just our eyes. Mental illnesses are always being looked down upon, but with the help of psychology, those people are constantly aiding their own selves to be better. It’s not always just “nothing,” most of the time it is “something.” This is the reason why I am so invested into learning about how a human mind works.

Something that really interests me and something I like to observe on a daily basis is people. The way they talk, the way they laugh, just our way of life fascinates me. The thing I enjoy the most about people is our laughter. I love to hear people laugh because it is a sign of pure happiness and bliss. My favorite thing in the world is laughter. I love to laugh, making people laugh, and hearing people laugh because I know that at that moment, that person is happy and that makes me happy.
One thing that I find so intriguing about laughter is that it is the same in all countries and languages. I think it is so beautiful that we can be around someone who speaks another language and you can still both laugh at a dog chasing its tail or playing with a toy. We don't have to speak the same language to be able to laugh together and I love that. I love that we can all have something in common in this crazy diverse world.
Laughter, in my opinion, is the most beautiful thing in this world. Laughter is something that we've all done since we were infants and something we will always do for the rest of our lives. It is a natural occurrence that all humans do and it is such a beautiful sound. It is all around us, everyday and it just amazes me that we all have this one thing that we can all share and enjoy together no matter what.

Something that I've always been interested in is the psychological aspect of the human mind; why people act the way they do? It's such a peculiar thing. But it's usually the more darker and dangerous of minds and thoughts, whether it be someone with a harmful mental disorder or a criminal, that I find so peculiar I'm drawn to it.
I'm constantly coming across shows like Criminal Minds, The First 48, How To Make A Killer, Dexter. I find myself watching psychological thrillers and analyzing the characters and their actions. I've always wanted to know what makes a character tick and how long it takes before they take out their frustrations on other people and why they do it before the answer is revealed. And sometimes we can never get those answers, with past case studies of Jack The Ripper and The Zodiac Killer. Those men will never be able to be fully understood because they always got away. I'm always asking how and what did they do to get away. How did the people around them not see the signs of a madman? It's questions like these that stay keeping me psycho-analyzing any and everyone. Being able to just sit back and observe someone's body language and personality and make a quick mental note on what makes this individual different from the rest. I'm constantly in the state of trying to choose who I want to help when I go off to college to study psychology; troubled children or army veterans. But now, it's not just about who I want to help, but who I'm trying to understand. Who went through the most trauma and is the most vunerable to mental instability. Being able to know the answers to these questions is what I want so I can be able to be trained to know when someone is about to break and how to prevent history from repeating itself because society decided to turn it's back on those who needed to be helped.

Since I could remember I've changed the career that I have wanted to pursue. One day I would want to be a Astronaut, and a Chef then the following week I'd want to be a model. There was just so much that intrigued me when I was younger. Since my 8th grade year I've been stuck on wanting to get involved in Obstetrics. An obstetrician or more commonly known as an OBGYN is a field of study focusing on pregnancy, child birth and the postpartum period.
I've always been fascinated by babies and pregnant women. It was so mind blowing to me that a baby could come from a microscopic egg inside a women's body let alone growing and thriving inside of another human being for 9 months. Also the changes that occur to the baby during such a short amount of time, for example their limbs beginning to grow and in a matter of weeks they have fingers and toes & they are each unique. Being in biology the previous year had a huge part in my career that I hope to pursue, biology is the study of life and that is exactly what my field is based on. Being an OBGYN you get the opportunity to interact with patients, and I am a people person, I love talking. It's a great fit for me, everything I am interested in is included in being an Obstetrician.
The route I am choosing to go down is certainly a challenge having to go through 12 years of schooling. I believe if you dont challenge yourself, you will just settle in everything you do in life, which is the complete opposite of what I want, I want to push myself to my full capacity. This profession is going to certainly be my dream job.

Gymnastics is something I've always loved ever since I was a kid. Even though I don't do it anymore it constantly seems to come back to me. At one point in my life I expected to go so much further than I ever did but, it is something I will always have in my heart.
When I was younger I used to look at the older girls in higher levels and say I want to do that. Unfortunately things don't always go as planned but, I have so many amazing memories involving gymnastics. At the age of 5 I had a birthday party at the gym I went to and had the best time of my life. At the time I had all my best friends with me and I got to do what I loved. One of my favorite things about gymnastics was the fact that you always had to push yourself harder to get to where you want to be. Whenever I would miss practice I would get so frustrated with myself because I missed out on a chance to get better. One time faked being sick to go home from school and I couldn't go to gymnastics practice because of it. Gymnastics taught my valuable lessons I still use to this day. One thing gymnastics taught me was to always work hard because it can get you so much further in whatever you are doing. I learned you are not always going to be the best at something but if you keep working for it you can get so much better. Every time I watch the Olympics or a gymnastics event I get the itch to go back but sadly I never do.
As I grow up I don't think ill ever get sick of gymnastics because of the place it holds in my heart. I look up to others who sacrifice their time to work hard to do their best. In the future I hope to continue applying the lessons I've learned to my everyday life. One day I hope to go to the Olympics and see other girls doing what I wish I could be doing with them. Gymnastics was such and important part of the story of my life that I will always cherish.

For as long as I can remember, music has been one of the most important things in my life. Some people say that "money makes the world go 'round", however, I think it's music. Not only can it be a hobby, it can also be a way of life as you're able to freely express yourself and even make a living from it.
As an avid musician, I have an eclectic taste in music. My favorite music genres are hip hop (preferably the 90s Golden Age stuff), RnB, and classic rock but I'll listen to anything from jazz to punk. I've been in band for five years, as a percussionist. You can always find me with a pair of drumsticks in my bag! This year, I was chosen as co-captain of Woodside's Purple Smoke Percussion. I'm also snare captain for the drumline and I'll be playing the drumset for Woodside's jazz band. In my spare time, I play a little bit of guitar, bass guitar, and keyboard. In the future, I plan to make music a career by owning a record label and becoming a music producer.
Before I was even fully aware of my capabilities, music was a major aspect in my life. As I've grown and matured, so has my love of music. It has progressed into something I can't live without. It's what truly makes me "me".

When I was young, my family labeled my old sister as a 'The Brainiac ' she'd come from school, sit in a tight spot and read non-stop, it'd get her into trouble sometimes. She'd be so stuck on the pages I wondered what was so exciting about the books she read that would make her shut us out for hours.
Years after when I went to the ninth grade, the most roughest year I've ever experienced at Woodside, I decided to head to the library one day during lunch, that became a routine, but despite the hard days I endured I consider them to be very enjoyable, meaning with the books I've read. There was one series in particular that made me absolutely adore reading. I read actions, adventures, romantic fantasies and the list goes on. I never thought I would ever feel so passionate about reading. It's like my sister and I traded places. The stories I've read, the way the author tries to make me feel like I'm right there where the scene is captured and I'm witnessing every word being expressed on the page, it's an amazing feeling. It lets me know as a reader that the author has put his or her blood sweat and tears into making the best book he or she can possibly make and that I appreciate. It inspires me also. If I can make someone laugh, or smile as authors do with the books they create that would be everything I could ask for.
One thing that I also love is the ending, although it can be an emotional rollercoaster at times, I love reflecting back on it and finding the lesson I learned, remember specific parts and somehow relate it back to my life in a way. It gives me a sense of gratitude and satifaction. As frustrating as it is to find a good book, I intend to keep reading and learning.

Something that I'm deeply interested in is the performing arts. Ever since I was young, I would always dance or sing around the house or with my friends at school. It was something that I enjoyed and now I've learned to appreciate it along with other types of performing arts. I knew that going to Woodside would be mandatory for me to go to so I could fulfill my passion. Hopefully, I can also fulfill my passion throughout my career and share it with others.
As I have grown up, I've taken many classes on music and dance and the history of those things as well which I think is a very great thing to know about. I've always been around great performers and I've picked up some of their habits and will forever remember some of the things they taught me. One of the things that i love the most about the performing arts (especially dancing and music), is that it brings people together and eliminates so much hostility that we could be thinking about in the world. Especially because I am so much of a peaceful person and love to share peace, I think music and dancing is such a great way to share happiness and bond with others. It's also a way to express or comfort yourself. Every time I'm stressed out, happy, sad, mad, or just hanging out with my friends, I always listen to music or dance and it makes me feel so much better! I do this so often without even thinking that it's like a medicine to me. The performing arts is the way I express and enjoy myself and if I can include something I love into my career, I think that would be the job of a lifetime.
Being around different musicians and performers has shown me so much about how the performing arts are and then having my own background for it also makes things more interesting for me. Knowing the background of where a lot of things come from helps me understand the significance of so many things that we hear and see everyday and I'm so thankful that I can be educated about them. I hope to learn much more of not only music and dance but other types of performing that I may not have discovered yet. I would love to continue to pass down what I've learned to other generations and maybe add somethings that can make the performing arts even more intriguing than it is now.

One of my interests includes drawing. My interest in drawing started when I picked up a colored pencil at age 3. With that colored pencil I drew a flower, at least I thought so at the time. Since then I spent my childhood drawing on computer paper with colored pencils. Back then I mostly drew TV show characters and did my best in drawing them exactly how they appear.
I still enjoy drawing what I see. I find it amazing how I can recreate something just by making marks. While drawing is tons of fun, it is also quite challenging. It can be quite difficult to mimic every single detail of your subject. Sometimes you might add detail where there does not need to be any. Sometimes you might shade too light or too dark. My point is, drawers will always make mistakes.
Another thing I love about drawing is that it lets you be creative and unique. Every drawer has their own style of drawing. You could give a group of drawers a subject to draw and they would all be drawn in a different way. While it is amazing that people can draw realistically, it is also amazing that people can draw what they have in mind.
I like to think I draw quite well, but I wouldn't call myself a prodigy. What keeps me going in drawing is the end result. Whenever I finish a drawing, I sit back and examine it. I think to myself, "Wow. I spent 4 hours doing this." Whenever I dislike it I think "Eh, I could do better. Maybe next time I can...." and whenever I like my drawing I post it on social media. I hope to improve a bit more in my drawing skills as well as find out what else I am capable of.

Swimming has impacted a majority of my life. Water did not interest me at first, at times i would never wanna get in the pool not even when they got one my size when i was younger. Going from not wanting my foot in it to being in it for years straight. Eventually i took the leap and hopped right into the pool and at this point i don't plan on getting out.
The interest of swimming really began for me while i was on vacation in Myrtle beach. I had members of my family in the deep end of the pool, which i wanted to go join in with them. My parents didn't feel like getting in with me at the time but being a young child i was too eager to wait. I took the step and just jumped right in. Of course i had to get a float around me right when that happened. If we didn't get a pool on vacation who knows how long it would take for my favorite sport to begin for me.
Returning home from the vacation i was put right into swim lessons to start my training that would get me to where i am now. I remember the start of the lessons in the shallowest part of the pool to now training in thirteen feet of water today. Starting from just getting my face in the water and now continuing it to sprinting under the water. After the start of my time in swimming, jumping into my pool i cannot think of any times when i didn't wanna stop swimming or i was afraid of the water.
After the basics were learned i joined the swim team with you, Coach Reed and Coach Carol and this is when i really got into it and cannot get out of anymore. Starting out from doing only one lap down the pool and finishing the night up i pushed right up and doing eight laps for one event seems like a big push, which it really is, i don't mind it. Going to champs and big swim meets were really cool things to be able to and being able to enjoy it with friends and teammates made it the best. Some things happens for certain reasons and swimming has turned out to be the best.
I am very fortunate to have had you, Coach Reed as a coach and Coach Carol for the beginning of this sport to still right now in high school. I cannot think of another sport to last me this long and hopefully even longer and remain a top interest to have. Being able to put in the effort and receive the medals and ribbons pays off. If you ever need me, catch me in the water.

For a majority of my life, I have found amenity in reading. I spent most of my childhood cooped up in the corner of the public library with a stack of books to accompany me. Books were practically my best friend, and it was never something I was ashamed of. It was something that pulled me out of reality and allowed me to build an imagination that I would never be the same without. I took every story and created an empire in my mind founded by a layer of hope. Reading enabled me to accept the potential that anything can happen. The sky isn't the limit when you read between the lines; there is absolutely no limit when it comes down to it. With every book, there is a new land to explore, a new person to meet, a new perspective to see through. I became immersed into this entire new world without even stepping out of the door. It amazed me as a child that I can become someone else simply through absorbing the words inked between two covers, and that's something I have continued to cherish through my teen life. A series that exhilarated my love for reading was The Magic Tree House.
The Magic Tree House is a series about two siblings that use their magical tree house to travel and explore locations across the world to embark on countless adventures. They did things my rudimentary brain could never imagine, from cradling the heads of dinosaurs to becoming witnesses of the Civil War. I became enchanted by every letter that composed the millions of words that I read. I completely understood that it was simply a work of fiction, but the lesson I learned from it was nothing but real. Knowing that a seven and eight year old could save historical documents and become heroes of history really inspired and encouraged me to be someone that treasures expeditions. I learned a mélange of things, but bravery was a characteristic that both characters showed that stuck with me. There were times of despair and tirades of abuse that they were hurled with, but that didn’t stop them from averting from their goal. They did everything in their power to jump over every hurdle in front of them rather than sitting down on the sidelines. When I did read these books, I never realized how integral they were to forming who I have become today. The author admonished me about the duties I have to be the best person I can be, and it is something I live by every day.
All in all, reading has become something in my life that I will never let go of. The intelligence and wisdom I have today derives directly from every novel I have ever taken the time to dedicate my life to. It is something that I make sure to integrate into my day to day life, whether it be reading from a hardcover or browsing through thousands of articles. I cannot live without the enjoyment of the art of writing because I cannot function without it; it exercises an imagination that allows me to preserve and manage what little sanity I have left. The Magic Tree House is simply one of the first examples that has impacted my life, and I am hoping there is much more to come. When the years go by, when the beat of the music changes its rhythm, and when the lives we lead change, there will still be one thing right by our sides reminding us of the hope and passion we will all have in our hearts: books.

At a young age, I was always in conflict with myself over my future career. Multiple topics such as baking and pathology grasped my attention, but were immediately forgotten as I came across my love for animals. As I explored the many directions one could go with such a detailed topic, I reached the conclusion of becoming a Companion Animal Veterinarian. By deciding on this career I would work with my most beloved subjects and treat those who could not communicate.
One of the many reasons I would like to become a veterinarian arose when I read a quote spoken by Will Rogers, who stated, "Personally, I have always felt that the best doctor in the world is the Veterinarian. He can't ask his patients what is the matter...he's just got to know." This statement made veterinarians, in my opinion, much more different than a doctor. The fact that the patients of a vet cannot communicate with their caregiver gives the career a more challenging aspect which highly interests me. It may take longer to diagnose a patient who is an animal, but it makes one work harder to reach their goal.
I would also enjoy working as a veterinarian because of my love for all maths and sciences. I have realized over time that it is a benefit I enjoy working with these subjects because they are crucial when it comes to helping animals. While working within this career, I would have to calculate doses of medication involving maths such as calculus and trigonometry as well as sciences such as biology and zoology which I take much admiration too.
Although I was struck with confusion at a young age, as most are, I love what I have chosen to do with a passion and I plan to follow this route. Becoming a Companion Animal Veterinarian in my future will bring me much joy and enhance my capabilities. I will be challenged by the mysteries of noncommunication but will work with the subjects and wonderful animals that I love.

There are various things that interest me but one thing that truly interest me is people. I love studying people and trying to figure out what is going on through their head and why do look emotinally stressed or why the are so happy.
Trying to understand someone just by their body language helps me figure out their personality just by looking at them before the even speak. Also I love how people get involed, what I mean by that is it surprising to see people that you don't know ro barely know help you with certain situations from personal problems to a math problem most people are willing to help.
I feel that if i was on this earth alone i woud get bored of being alone and the big space so I'm glad there is people that surround me that I can count on for entertainment because without them my life would be a complete bore.

From a young age I have always taken a liking to swimming. Whether it’s when I’m competing or just leisurely swimming I feel at ease when in the water. Swimming is my stress outlet, my escape from reality. I go in the water with the weight of the world on my shoulders and I come out with it all washed away.
I have been swimming since I could remember. My parents told me that I started lessons when I was 9 months old and have continued since then. When I was around 7 or 8 years old I tried out for my first swim team Coast Guard Blue Dolphins. I enjoyed being on the team a lot. Since I was younger I was pretty fast from all the pent up excitement in my system. I was the hyper little 7 year old o the blocks waiting to go. I remember my first ever meet. My event was the 25 meter freestyle. I remember diving in and just going the fastest I could putting my everything into the short event. I don’t remember if I placed or not but that doesn’t matter. What matters is that in that very moment when I dove in the water I fell in love with the sport.
Eventually after 2 or 3 years I switched to a different team South Eastern Virginia Aquatics and I am still on the team going on 6 years now. I dream that someday I can be in the Olympics, but I know I have to start training harder to make it happen. Recently take a break from it in order to keep up with my school work. I do plan on returning though because swimming is a part of me that I just can’t give up.

I am very interested in fashion. The way a person can express oneself through the outer wear says much about that person's personality. I love to watch people and their personal styles and see so many different styles evolving. The fact that there is an art to mixing and matching to make endless combinations fascinates me. Fashion is apart of each and every persons' everyday life. It is also so easy to create whatever style best fits you.
The fact that fashion is a timeless thing is also very intriguing to me. I love to look at fashion trends from the past and even possible future ones. It its amazing something worn from centuries ago can modernized and made to seem new through this industry like button down shirt that have been around forever. It is such a different type of art that many designers are not given enough credit for. Can you think of something bold enough that has never been created, yet still fits within the spectrum of desirable and not just completely crazy?
All in all, in the end its all about feeling confident and beautiful to oneself. Designer brands are nothing but labels and some fashion trends have arisen from the cheapest clothes. Personally some of my most proud pieces are not the most expensive. I hope to pursue research in fashion industries to learn even more about it and have my eyes open to discover new aspects.

My most favorite thing to do in my free time is playing volleyball. I am the captain of the Woodside Varsity volleyball team. My team means everything to me and they stick with me through thick and thin. That is why I keep playing and and working on my skills. It is important to me to have a hobby because it pushes me to do something other than sit at home. Even if I am sitting at home there are always games you can watch and ways you can be involved with the sport.
Volleyball also allows me an outlet to frustration. I mean, everybody gets frustrated whether it's from school, work, or at home. Managing frustration is a helpful tool to learn so that you can stay focused. This is just my way of letting out frustration. It also appeals to me because it's like a fun workout. I am a pretty lazy person and I love food so this kind of balances that out if you know what I mean. My mom always pushed me to play sports so I did gymnastics, ballet, swimming, soccer and now volleyball. I think that volleyball stuck with me because it was always connected to school, it was technically challenging, and I just connected with my teamates more than any other team or sport that I was in. For this I am and always will be greatful.
On the flip side let's talk about my future. Ever since I was little I have always wanted to be a veterinarian. I have always had a fascination with animals and wildlife so naturally I was just a nature lover at heart. There was never a time where I wasn't begging for a new pet or asking to go to the zoo or even just the ASPCA to look. Everything about about helping or doing anything with animals appealed to me.
Now that I'm a lot older and have more responsibilities and expectations, the questions about what I want to do become harder and harder. Now it's not just "what do you want to be" or, "well you have a while to think about it," but it's more of a "what college are you looking at" and, "let's get these AP classes and scholarships," so this jumble of the next couple years will be a little bit easier. But the truth is I really don't mind because I'm looking forward to my futre working with other people's beloved pets and helping animals that weren't so lucky to find good homes. Or will I be a zoo vet? Or maybe a vet for farm animals?

Though my interests change from time to time the one that has been the most consistent in my life is music. I love everything about music.....everything accept writing it. I've never been good about writing music or doing improvisation for music. But besides that, I love listening to it, playing it, and performing it. My favorite thing about music is that it has the unspoken way of uniting people. One of the biggest examples of that is at concerts. Everyone is enjoying themselves dancing and singing the lyrics, and in the moment no one cares about anything else, but the music.
Music also happens to be one of the only things that doesn't really need a translator. As long as you can read music, it doesn't matter what language you speak. You can read music written by people all across the globe and it will mean the same thing to everyone. Music is like its own language, it's a form of expression that everyone can enjoy in some way. I've never met a person that has said that they don't like music, sure I've met people that say they don't like certain types of music, but there is always a type of music they do like.
Music has been a huge part of my life, it's always been there. I started singing it when I was six years old. I learned to play the violin in middle school. I did chorus. And now I play the piano and perform to it in the marching band. It's everywhere I go. It's always playing at home, in stores, in cars. I love music a lot, and I love finding music that I love the moment it starts playing. Also, there's this one thought that keeps coming back to my mind, it said something along the lines of "furniture is how we decorate space, but music is how we decorate time" and I love it, because it is how we decorate time. Music has always consistently been in my life and it has something that everyone likes. Music isn't only for certain types of people and there are no limitations to music. That's what I love about it so much.

Every individual is unique. Every region is unique from others, just as every nation is different, every culture. Many things make these groups of individuals differ from other groups around them, including customs, tradition, history, knowledge, development, and the arts. Fine art is one of the most important identifying aspect of any great nation. This can include painting, sketching, pottery, sculpting, and other forms of visual arts; acting, performing, dancing, and showcasing talent, and more contemporary, film making; and music. Music is one of the most important things that identifies a region as its own place, a nation as their own people. A world without music is unimaginable.
Music can cross many borders. Spoken and written languages vary greatly region to region, even dialects of the same language. However, music is a language all of its own, and its universal. Someone can listen to the music of another continent, seemingly a whole new world, and still be able to understand the feeling behind it, and even the message. There can be songs of celebration and songs of lament, there can be etudes, sonnets, symphonies, cantatas, sambas, chants, anthems, waltzs and marches, but the soul behind the song remains the same from region to region, culture to culture, and person to person. Both the composer and the performer can break social barriers through sound, and can also state their own individuality from others. Conclusively, music can be used many different ways and is a vital part of our history, and our identity

Throughout the years I have found different ways to express myself, my feelings, and my life experiences. My favorite way is poetry. I have loved poetry since I was 13 and it is a very big passion to me. Poetry is an amazing way to get to know someone and I think people underestimate the power of poetry. Poetry is in music, literature, even life it is incorporated in so much. My love for poetry is something very personal to me, I see it as an outlet from my problems.
I started writing poetry when I was 13. It all actually started because I wanted to be a rapper and a singer. I started writing music until I realized I’m not very good and singing, rapping, or writing music. The material I wrote just wasn’t a song. However, it told stores in a very poetic manner. So at that point I started looking into spoken words on YouTube. After listening to one of my favorite poem, That Girl by a Philadelphian native Alysia, I became so fascinated with how people could use words and rhythm to express their deepest thoughts. I became so interested in how people used poetry to let out their secrets, hurt, pain, joy, and any emotion that you could feel. I hold poetry so dearly to me because I just feel like instead of going out into the world and doing something stupid I can write a poem about it.
Once I started writing poetry it wasn’t really good. I started writing poetry about things like boys or other little childish knick knacks that I thought were so important at the time. So I stopped writing poetry. I felt as if it wasn’t as good as the people that I heard on YouTube so I stopped. I started writing poetry again summer of 2015. At that point in my life I had been through so much and while I was in the hospital I wrote a poem. I poured my emotions into that poem and it made me feel like a weight was being lifted off of me. So, once again, I started writing again. From 2015 to now I have written about 15 poems, all about my life. All of my poems are about my life because I feel as if that most personal poems are the best. I feel that personal poems really show you a piece of the poet. Poetry has made me more open about my life; people who read or listen to my poems and have gone through similar situations have reached out to me and it has formed many friendships.
Poetry is a love of mine because it’s an art honestly. People think that poetry is just like Dr. Seuss rhyming ‘fish’ with ‘dish’ or ‘bat’ with ‘cat’. It’s more than that, it is far more complex than that. Rap is just very badly done poetry put to a nice beat. Poetry can be used as a way to let out your negative, or positive, emotions. I love poetry and I hope to win a spoken word competition next summer.

After high school i'm going to pursue my dream as a doctor/surgeon and I have my grandparents to thank for that decision. My parents used to tell me that i was a curious child and asked so many questions if something interested me, such as my grandparents being doctors. Since my grandpa loved talking about himself, he enjoyed sharing his stories about the patient's and his journey entering the medical field. I thought his stories were incredible that I began throwing out my barbies and buying toy first aid kits. When my 5th birthday came, I remember my family had got me a real piece of medical equipment. Since then, my dream job was to be a doctor.
Each year I learned more vivid words and more of what doctors can do. So my words went from baby doctor to pediatrician to general practitioner and finally to general surgeon. To be a surgeon I need at least 13 more years of education and i'm determined to do whatever it takes to get there. I'm a person who enjoys helping others in the best way possible. So becoming a doctor will make me happy knowing that i'm saving someone's life and that's what’s most important.
In my family there are 7 doctors, and i hope to be the 8th. My cousin is in his 3rd year of college to become a doctor and he's already gone to Africa twice to help out kids! Something I know I would love to do. Becoming a doctor will be a dream come true. I've never even thought of being anything else but that. Being in the medical field is just a fascinating job because you know you're making others feel better.

One of my many interest is culture. I love learning about different cultures because I love people and the similarities and differences we share. Culture encompasses a lot about a specific people group such as language, ethnicities, history, traditions, foods, dress, religion and way of life. In culture people express themselves and differ making everyone unique and I find those expressions absolutely fascinating. I realized my love for different cultures when I was younger and wondered about my own culture. I am African American/ Black and I love my American culture. I find American culture very intriguing because everyone has a backstory. We all came from a different place with our own culture, customs and way of life. Yet, we joining together to be one. However, I never knew my African culture seen as I and many, many of my ancestors were born in the United States I wondered exactly where my family and heritage specifically originated from. When I thought about it more the more I wanted to know about African cultures and which I might have come from and I still wonder today. In search for more on my own culture I began to fall in love with the cultures of different people and how they’ve evolved over time and blended. Culture can be defined in so many ways because it is something different for each individual. We make it our own and express it in a multitude of different ways. I admire the study of people groups because I feel that’s a way to start to know a person and who they really are beyond.

I have a deep, profound, love for the game of basketball. If you know a basketball player, im sure you've heard them say "ball is life". That statement is absolutely true when it comes to my life. All summer long i have been playing basketball in travel leagues, with the high school, and also attending camps at colleges. When it comes to practice, a normal day for us is weight room, then we hit the track and flip tires, and then get on the court.
This is something I have been doing since i was 6 years old. Im very thankful and glad my mother started me out in the sport early. At first, i didn't like it, but it grew on me over the years and now i love it. One great thing about this sport is that it can be used as a tool to get a free college education. I should be getting scholarship offers pretty soon for basketball, and when i do, it's definitely going to be one of the best feelings because i get to go to a good college for free as well as do what i love at the same time.

There an endless amount of things in the world that draw people towards them. My interests vary but what my most important interest have in common are that the deal with wheels. I've rode my bike since I was six years old and I don't plan on ever giving up on my bike. Whenever I have a stressed day there's nothing that can beat a long bike ride to clear your thoughts.
My other interest is driving, its a common everyday task and most people think of it as nothing more as a mode of transportation from one place to another. In my opinion its a responsibility and makes me feel in control of where I'm going. I love everything there is about driving and that goes for bikes as well.

The thing that interests me the most is base ball. The reason I like base ball is because I have been playing it since I was little. Base ball to me is something I would play all day if I could. I remember as a kid I watched base ball with my friends and that was day we liked base ball. Ever since then we enjoyed playing the sport with a passion.
Base ball to is more than a sport, I feel like it can bring people together and let us have a good time. Also base ball is interesting because my grand father played the sport growing up, he played while in high school. That's another reason why I like the sport

I am thoroughly interested in art. People can have different perceptions of different pieces of art and it can make them feel certain types of ways while observing. Art is important to me because you are able to express yourself while making it and it can have different impacts on others.
When looking at art it always makes me think. What was the person who made this thinking when they created it? Why did they include the things they included? How has someone else interpreted this piece?
I've always been intrigued by art. It has always made me feel some kind of emotion while observing. Art also makes me think about the inspiration for the artwork. It also makes me wonder about how others have reacted to it.

Music is something that interests me the most at the moment for three reasons, it calms me, you can always learn more about music and musical people, and it can tells stories if really listen sometimes or send messages. This art form like any other art form is free, music can go with just about anything depending on how you pair it with entertainment.
Music is entertainment by itself and people learn pieces and play those pieces for others and the whole process can be scary or hard if your doing it for the first time. I've been through this process and it was both because I didn't really know what to expect. I play the piano and learning new music is hard because with each new piece you're challenging yourself. The process is scary in many ways but the scariest for me is not learning my piece on time but that pushes you to get it done. On concert night everything up to that moment is worth it because you know your piece as best as you can and its not going to get any better. Once I start playing all my worries go away and I'm completely calm.
Music is always a learning process because you are constantly getting better and being able to pick things up faster. There are so many things to read in a piece and if you don't know it you cant play a piece. Your also learning about the composers that wrote your pieces and you learn about there life and you start to think if these people overcame obstacles like not being able to hear and still play music amazingly then you can do it too.
Lastly music tells stories of mainly the composers lives and how they were feeling at the time when they wrote their piece. You can tell if they were frustrated or upset and also happy by the way their piece sounds. Music is for everyone and you will always find song or pieces that will go with your mood, which there are a lot of. It also helps you get through things you never thought you'd need music for.

The career I want to persure when I get out of high school is something to do with psychology. Im not quite sure what I want to do exactly, but I know it would be in that field. I was diagnosed at a young age with two mental illnesses due to my fathers abuse. Therefore I have been going to therapy since I was very young. This introduced me to a lot of knowledge about therapy techniques and it fascinated me even when I was only about 10 years old.
Even though the subject did fascinate me at a young age it was not till about a year ago when I thought of actually doing something with psychology for a degree. Last year I went into a treatment center for an illness I've been suffering from and it clicked in my head that wow I really want to help people! But, the scientific aspect of it also interests me a lot. How the brain works is so mind blowing and I would love to be a part of figuring out more about it.
My favorite therapist who I had during my time in treatment told me, that people like me were made to work with other people. And I believed him 100%. I have always had such compassion for others and trying to figure out why they think the way they do, so I decided hey this would be perfect for me.

One thing that really interest me is traveling around the world. Ever since I was a baby, my grandma would take me to different places for vacation. It wasn't until I was going into middle school, that I really realized how grateful I am to go places and how much traveling intrigues me. One of the reasons I love traveling is because I get to see new cities, and within the cities the architecture and history. One of my favorite things to do before I go somewhere is to research the history of the state/city I'm going to. Once I get there, I love going to museums and going on tours because learning new information is so interesting to me. Another thing about traveling I enjoy, is seeing new people. No I don't mean the cute guys I will never see again, but the different cultures within the city/state and observing from afar. It's so cool to see and hear different nationalities all in the same place, and noticing how everyone is so different but alike. One of my favorite things about traveling is trying new food! I seriously love food, and being able to walk around and taste all the food is so fun. Especially when a food item is a classic or originated from the place I am visiting. I could go on and on about traveling and all the wonders but to sum it up, I hope to be able to travel all around the world even more and enjoy all the countries when I'm older.

Swimming is something I've loved doing since I was five years old. I just love the feeling of being in the water. Swimming is just more than enjoyable, it has many benefits too, by providing my whole body a workout, keeping me healthy, and the list just goes on and on.
I've been swimming for most of my life, starting since I was five. I didn't always love being in the water though. My first time showing up to a swim lesson, I was crying because I was so afraid to get in the water, but then after awhile I really started to enjoy it. I then started swimming for a team and also year round swimming, gradually improving my stroke and technique over the years. After all these years, swimming still has a place in my heart.
Swimming also has many benefits on the human body. Unlike many other sports, swimming will workout the whole body without putting too much stress on it. Swimming helps build my endurance, define my muscles, and keeps me in shape. The result is having a healthy body which is one of the most important things someone can have in life.
To conclude, I've been swimming for many years and there's no other sport I enjoy as much as swimming, and there's just so many benefits that come along with it. The feeling of being in the water is great, and knowing I'm doing my body a favor at the same time is priceless.

Everyone has something that they're interested in, for me, my interest happens to be music. The soul-soothing flow of instruments coming together to make such beautiful melodies and rhythms has impacted my life immediately from the start. Growing up living with my grandparents, I was introduced to performing music at a fairly young age. Karaoke was a common activity in their household, possibly more than it should've been. Every weekend there was always a new song to be performed and I would sing along with the adults unaware that music was going to change my life forever.
As I got older, my interest in musicals, concerts and playing instruments grew by the minute. I was always the student in music class who not only wanted to play the instruments laying around but I wanted to know more on the styles of music and where they originated from. At the age of 9, my mother bought me my first guitar and I instantly fell in love with it. The feeling of performing little bits and pieces of my own original content gave me a rush and further pushed me to play more.
Performing wasn't the only thing that made my life serene though, listening to different musicians and genres helped quite a bit also. Whether it was the the number one pop song on the radio or a simple commercial jingle, I loved it all. As I became enticed with music, I've realized that I appreciate it in every and any way there is possible.

Traveling is something that I enjoy tremendously. At a young age I was introduced to traveling because of family trips and reunions out of the state. I have found that getting to experience the differences in the states in the United States and the differences in the countries around the world have shaped me into the person that I am today. I have been fortunate enough to have the opportunities to travel to Beijing, China, Shanghai, China, Qingdao, China, and Sydney, Australia. The cultural experiences and differences in the three Chinese cities alone were enough to leave an impact on me for a lifetime.
Some of the things that I have done while traveling include visiting the Shanghai World Financial Center in Shanghai, walking just a fraction of the Great Wall of China in Huairou, China, visiting the Olympic Village and the Summer Palace in Beijing, and last but probably my favorite, being able to feed kangaroos and hold a koala in Sydney, Australia. In conclusion, traveling has put me in paces and opportunities to experience unforgettable moments that when I think about them, I not only calm me, but make me realize how fortunate I am. I am grateful for the love of traveling that I have acquired and I hope that I will continue to have the same love for it as I grow older.

While many things catch my attention and you could say I'm interested in, the one thing that truly fascinates me is History. This may sound like I'm trying to kiss up or make myself sound better but it truly does awe me. I find it amazing how people could accomplish such great things without modern technology or really anything at all except their minds. These people and events left such legacies that theyre still remembered to this day, which I think is crazy.
While the topic of history in general is interesting, the one that amazes me is Us history around the 17-1800s. The fact that the early colonists fought against the well trained British army and defeated them is insane. These underdog, undersupported colonists defeated a global superpower which would've seemed impossible, but they defeated the odds. Besides defeating the british, these men were so smart that they established an organization of government that is still used today. I always think what it would be like to travel back to the late 1700s- early 1800s. Imagine living amongst the founding fathers and living through the "firsts" of the country, knowing that one day people are going to talk about their new country that they fought for themselves. America was in its infancy at that time and these people gave it such a strong foundation, which allowed it to prosper in the ways it does today. This time in Us history is truly an amazing one and in my opinion the most fascinating time there will ever be.

After I graduate high school, I want to pursue a career as a pediatric or urgent care Physician Assistant or as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. I want to pursue a career in the medical field because I have a passion for helping people with illnesses. Urgent Care Physician Assistants treat medical conditions that require urgent care but are not serious enough to go to the emergency room.
One thing I love about Urgent Care is the ability to treat patients with serious conditioners in a timely manner instead of the long wait time in hospitals. Growing up I've always had compassion to treat and care for people in times of need. I also want to Physician Assistant because I'm caring and I have the desire of helping those in need.
This career is important to me because I like to challenge myself. I believe that in order for someone to be the best they have to strive for the best which leaves room for improvement. In the medical field you'll always be challenged on a daily basis but I believe it ones responsibility to take that challenge to learn and grow from it.
